Artist Statement


This series of paintings are a visual result of my internally assimilating, then outwardly fashioning emotional responses to water in the natural world. I am renewed by the energy of flowing water. I am mesmerized by the way water finds its own path with a constant force moving it. I love the sound of rushing water, its rhythms, the obstacles it encounters and its endlessness. I feel energized, enlivened, reassured around flowing water.

These particular pieces were done on canvas with acrylic paints, graphite, and charcoal. These paintings were very much about my own participation for what it must be like to be the water. They are gestural in nature.
